The Terps cruised to a 6-3 victory over Stevenson University on Senior Night at the Gardens Ice House Saturday night. Seniors Zack Arden, Rob Burns, Benji Weiner, Nathan Miller, Dominic Sesto and Travis Danko were all honored before the game.
Arden and Ben Friedland picked up right where they left off last night as Friedland found the senior Captain for the first goal of the game. Joey Zappia added two scores in the first period.
The Terps piled on two more goals in the second, as Griffin Connolly and Friedland found the back of the net. Stevenson, playing with a 2 man bench, was gassed and spent more than half of the period in the defensive zone.
In the third period, Clark LeDane put one top shelf to make it a 6-3 game. With less than three minutes left in the game, Nathan Miller was ejected with a 10 minute game misconduct, along with Stevenson player Thomas Foschini who also was hit with a 10 minute game misconduct.
The game wasn’t without it’s physicality. It got quite chippy, as both teams made several trips to the Penalty Box.
“Guys were getting frustrated when pucks weren’t going in the back of the net, so there was some undisciplined penalties in there,” head coach Jim Gaudet said. “We definitely have to tighten that up, because that’s really going to cost us with the teams we’re facing the rest of the season.”
Dominic Sesto reminisced after his last home game as a Terp. “It hurts a little bit. But it was fun to play in front of everybody.”
The Terps head into next weekend’s Crab Pot tournament with a 19-7-1 record. They open up the tournament on Friday at 5:30 against Towson.
